Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions? Take a look here or give us a call
Q. Can anyone use our showrooms?
A. Absolutely. We are a wholesale distributor, but are more than happy to work with anyone that comes in.
Q. What should I bring with me?
A. The more you bring, the better! Countertop sample, cabinet color, pictures of the room, etc, all help us to determine the right color/style of tile. Also, bringing in inspiration pictures of what you like helps give us an idea of your goal.
Q. Does Keen Tile provide installation services?
A. Keen Tile does not offer installation services. However, we will be happy to recommend an installer to help with the install of tile purchased here.
Q. Do I need an appointment to come in?
A. No. However, you are more than welcome to make an appointment with one of our design team professionals.
Q. Does Keen Tile stock tile or vinyl?
A. We have a few options stocked in both tile and vinyl. While we still recommend planning in advance, we have options for those in a time crunch.
Q. Can I have maintenance free grout?
A. For a long time, grout has been a thorn in the side of homeowners. People tend to love their tile and hate their grout. Keen Tile offers the latest technology in grout; a premixed urethane product that never needs to be sealed! Come on in and let us show you a product that is low-maintenance,
has superior stain resistance, crack-resistant flexibility, mold and mildew protection, and unmatched color consistency.
Q. What is the difference in glazed porcelain and ceramic tile?
A. Porcelain is a harder, denser glaze on the body of the tile. However, ceramic will last a lifetime under normal conditions. Once a tile is installed, it cannot be determined if it is a porcelain glaze.
Our recommendation is to go with the look you like the best and not to base your decision on if the product is porcelain or not.
Q. What is the difference in Keen Tile and box stores?
A. While we cannot speak for the box stores, Keen Tile offers only first quality material and is happy to offer exceptional advice, as well as design consulting and delivery services. We are also able to meet most any value concern you may have. When selecting hard surfaces for your home, it is imperative to use the correct products and high quality materials.
Q. Is it important for me to use a certain installer?
A. This is extremely important to the “finished” look and longevity of your product. Please take some time to consider someone right for your job. Many times this is not the least expensive person, but a mix of price and quality is certainly worth considering.
Q. Should I consider large or small tiles for my small area?
A. It is a common misconception that small tiles go in small areas. In fact, the opposite is true. Larger tiles appear to make any room larger. This creates an open look and feel because of the fewer grout joints.
Q. Why should I consider natural stone?
A. While many porcelain and ceramic tiles can look similar, no one tile can emulate natural stone completely. Stone offers natural variations from piece to piece. Whether you are looking for travertine, slate, limestone, or marble, Keen Tile offers a variety of natural stones in many different color options to suit any area of your home.
Q. How much maintenance is required with natural stone?
A. Natural stone does require a sealer, which is a simple process when using a good quality sealer. We offer multiple sealers with different finish options. Our design professionals can explain the differences and help you select the proper sealer for your stone.
